In the 7 years that we have lived in Sacramento with 3 years being in the Fashion Industry, it was our first time attending Sacramento Fashion Week and it was truly an amazing event! This year's event was held at the California Automobile Museum and was packed with the most incredibly talented fashion designers and fashion enthusiasts in northern California.
We attended Saturday night's Designer showcase which included Designers, Mimi Tran, Maisha Bahati, Anastasia Kryukova, Rachel Lewis aka Goldmark, Michael Kouri, Janelle Cardenas & Yennie Zhou, produced by Duane Ram, Karrie Grant & Missy O'Daniel and hosted by Fox 40's Bethany Crouch!
Sacramento Fashion Week, produced by DMR Productions, was launched in Spring 2006 as an answer to the call for a fashion show production that focused on the needs of the local fashion industry. With fashion becoming more mainstream and the growing demand for both beauty and fashion products in all markets; retailers needed a resource that would help them become profitable within the current marketplace, while manufacturers needed an outlet that would effectively reach these buyers.
We provide the bridge between fashion designers, models, photographers, advertising agencies, modeling & talent agencies, fine artists, make up and hair stylists, exhibitors and entrepreneurs in the beauty, fashion and entertainment industry. Sacramento Fashion Week strives to produce an upscale quality event with the overall goal to bring more awareness and economic growth to our local fashion industry. We work with local higher education institutions to recruit and develop talent as well provide an avenue for students to learn real-world skills in the various industries that contribute to our event. As part of our commitment to the Greater Sacramento area economy, our marketing strategy involves collaboration with local businesses to create new sales and networking opportunities.
Each year Sacramento Fashion Week partners with a local non-profit to instill community the essence and importance of giving local. This year, they partnered with the Junior League of Sacramento.
We cannot wait to attend next year's Sac Fashion Week because we know it's going to be another grand event!
Check them out and be sure to attend next year's event, it's an event you don't want to miss!!
SACRAMENTO FASHION WEEK
Sacramento's Fashion on Film was a huge success! This was our first time attending and we got the awesome opportunity of being a part of the event with our "Cat Woman" movie theme for our Vendor Booth, thanks to Kim Mims of Keep It Movin Consulting who was a big part of coordinating this awesome event!
The event was held at Beatnik Studios, in downtown Sacramento, a cool loft-style warehouse with brick walls, high ceilings and gorgeous strands of hanging lights. The ambiance was perfect for a Fashion on Film style event that was filled with a lot of local film makers and was host to Matt Salvo's preview of his up and coming short film, "Freakquency."
The night wouldn't be complete without a bevy of Fashion Shows from local designers and local salons as well as Vendor Booths from local boutiques and services.
I asked when the next event will be because I definitely want to be a part of it again and I am hoping that there will be one sooner than next year's Sacramento Fashion Week. It is definitely an event you want to keep a lookout for, Fashion on Film, Sacramento Fashion Week.

I have always been inspired by the creativeness of clothing boutiques from floor to ceiling, I am drawn to textiles, lighting, colors and bling. Since our mom and pop shop is located in Old Sacramento, which is an outdoor tourist area, we find that not a lot of tourists are out in our part of town when it's raining so on rainy, winter days, I like to venture out.
We headed over to the Fountains, in Roseville for the first time and the one boutique that stood out to me the most was S.W.A.K. aka Sealed With A Kiss. They're also a small business and have just one other boutique in South Lake Tahoe. What drew me to it was the way it was designed. The racks were above white platforms and just a couple of different pieces hung from above to give a floating clothing effect. The clothing styles were exactly what I like, casual & trendy with Miss Me Jeans, cool tunics & sweaters. They also had a men's department with cool jeans & shirts for men and a children's section as well. I also found some very interesting and unique mannequins like the bejeweled bathing suit mannequin and the small area of fancy dresses. They also have two massage lounge chairs for your stress free convenience, how cool is that?!
Our adventures didn't stop there, we headed over to Lids at Arden Fair Mall because we had to get some monogrammed caps for U.BE.U. Fashion and OEMG, LLC, aka Onyx Entertainment Management Group, LLC, our new business venture in managing Artists, Vocalists, Songwriters, Musicians and Events, contact Darrell at email@example.com if you're looking for artist management.
The stores that caught my eye were the lovely dresses they had at Cache. Cache always has the nicest selection of long gowns and mid-length dresses for special occasions. Francesca's Collections was another great store that reminded me of how most outdoor store-front boutiques are set up with the sandwich chalkboard out front and the gazillion pieces of perfectly placed fashion jewelry on the display tables right when you walk in. Of course, I had to stop in Forever 21 and what caught my eye there were the funky & unique false eyelashes that came in a box of three. Forever 21 never ceases to amaze me with the trendy & fun things they have to offer.
If you happen to be in these areas, definitely pay them a visit. Sacramento has a lot of great places to shop!!
